About AFHC

Our Club

Abbotsford Field Hockey Club is a volunteer-powered community sports club dedicated to growing the game of field hockey across the Fraser Valley, one player at a time.

Who We Are

From Backyard Sticks to Club Champions

Established in 2009, Abbotsford Field Hockey Club was created with a simple vision: to promote sports ethics, teamwork, healthy lifestyles, and community involvement among children. From the start, our goal has been to give kids a positive environment where they can learn, enjoy, and grow through the sport of field hockey while building fitness, discipline, confidence, and respect.

Over the years, many young players have been part of our hockey family. Some developed a lasting passion for the game, built valuable life skills, and have grown into successful adults working in a wide range of professions, a reflection of the positive impact sport can have well beyond the playing field.

We are a volunteer-powered, non-profit community club. Our Summer Camp, held every Monday and Wednesday evening at the Dasmesh Punjabi School field, is the heartbeat of AFHC and the entry point for most of our young players.

How We Operate

Our Four Pillars

Community at Our Core

AFHC was built by local families for local families. Every decision, from program pricing to practice times, is made with our community in mind.

Inclusive by Design

We believe field hockey should be accessible to every child regardless of background or financial situation. Our bursary program and flexible payment options mean no player is left on the sideline.

High Performance Pathway

From our beginner Learn to Play stream through to our competitive youth squads, AFHC provides a clear, well-coached pathway for players who aspire to provincial and national competition.

Safe Sport Commitment

Every coach and volunteer holds a current Safe Sport certification and police background check. We follow the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) without exception.

Our Commitment

We are committed to helping every child enjoy field hockey, stay active, build confidence, and develop skills that benefit them both on and off the field.

Our success is measured not only by performance, but by the character, friendships, and life skills our young athletes develop as we build a strong hockey community and support the next generation of athletes, on and off the field.
