Terms & Conditions
Last updated: June 16, 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Abbotsford Field Hockey Club's ("AFHC") website, registration services, and participation in any AFHC programmes or events. By registering or using our services, you agree to these Terms.
1. Registration and Eligibility
Registration is open to players meeting the age requirements of their chosen programme. Players must be registered by a parent or legal guardian if under 18 years of age. AFHC reserves the right to decline or cancel registrations at its discretion.
2. Fees and Payment
Registration fees are set each season and posted on the AFHC website. Fees must be paid in full before a player may participate in practices or games. Payment details are provided after registration. Payment by credit or debit card is available via our Stripe donation link.
2.1 Refund Policy
Refunds are available upon written request received at least 14 days before the programme start date. Requests received after this date will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Administration fees may apply. Refunds are not available once the programme has commenced except in cases of injury or extenuating circumstances at the discretion of AFHC management.
3. Code of Conduct
All players, parents, coaches, and spectators are expected to adhere to AFHC's Code of Conduct, which is based on Field Hockey Canada's Safe Sport standards. This includes:
- Treating all participants with respect and dignity
- Using appropriate language and behaviour at all times
- Respecting officials, coaches, and opponents
- Not engaging in any form of harassment, discrimination, or abuse
- Refraining from unsportsmanlike conduct
Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in suspension or permanent removal from AFHC programmes without refund.
4. Safe Sport Policy
AFHC is committed to Safe Sport principles as defined by Sport Canada and Field Hockey BC. We operate under a zero-tolerance policy for maltreatment in sport. All coaches hold current Safe Sport certifications. Concerns may be reported to our Safe Sport Officer at info@afhc.ca or directly to the Sport Integrity Commissioner of Canada.
5. Liability Waiver
Participation in field hockey involves inherent physical risks including, but not limited to, cuts, bruises, sprains, fractures, and other injuries. By registering, you acknowledge these risks and agree that AFHC, its directors, coaches, and volunteers are not liable for injuries sustained during participation, provided such injuries do not result from gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
AFHC maintains liability insurance through its affiliation with Field Hockey BC. All players are covered under the programme's group accident insurance during official practices and competitions.
6. Photography and Media
AFHC may capture and use photographs and video footage of players at practices, games, and events for club promotion. Separate consent is requested during registration (see our Privacy Policy). If you do not consent, please notify us in writing.
7. Communications
By registering, you agree that AFHC may contact you by email, phone, and WhatsApp using the details you provide, for registration, scheduling, payment, and club-related purposes. AFHC does not currently operate an automated SMS text-messaging program. Should one be introduced, separate opt-in consent will be obtained.
8. Website Use
You may use the AFHC website for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not use the website to transmit harmful, offensive, or unlawful content, or to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its infrastructure.
AFHC makes reasonable efforts to keep website content accurate and up to date but does not warrant that all information is complete, current, or error-free.
9. Intellectual Property
All content on the AFHC website (including text, images, graphics, logos, and video) is the property of AFHC or its content suppliers and is protected by Canadian copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.
11. Changes to These Terms
AFHC reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated to registered members by email. Continued participation in AFHC programmes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
