Who It's For

Is This the Right Program?

The AFHC U10 program is the entry point into competitive field hockey for our youngest age group. Designed for players who are 9 years old and under as of January 1st of the current year, this program bridges the gap between development play and structured team competition. Players in U10 have typically completed at least one season of our Junior Development program or have equivalent experience from another club or school. At the U10 level, we play 7-a-side field hockey on a half-pitch with modified rules specifically designed to maximize touches on the ball and decision-making opportunities. Every player is guaranteed meaningful game time -- there is no bench-warming at this age. Our coaching philosophy at U10 is player-centred: we reward effort and improvement over results, and we make sure every child leaves practice feeling capable and motivated. Training takes place twice per week throughout the fall and spring seasons, and the team participates in the BC Field Hockey Fraser Valley League. Weekend tournaments in Abbotsford, Langley, and Chilliwack provide exciting environments for players to test their skills. Families from across the Fraser Valley are welcome to try out.
