Who It's For

Is This the Right Program?

The AFHC U18 program is our flagship competitive team and serves as the highest rung of youth competition available at the club. It caters to players aged 16 and 17 who are pursuing university recruitment, national junior team pathways, or simply seeking the highest quality club training environment in the Fraser Valley. Many of our U18 alumni have gone on to play varsity field hockey at Canadian universities and have represented BC at national championships. Training at U18 level is full-time in season. Players train four times per week and are expected to maintain independent fitness and skills work on non-training days. The coaching staff -- which includes a former CAN-FHK national team player -- delivers a curriculum aligned with the Canadian National Team's long-term athlete development model. Players are treated as young adults and are given increasing responsibility for their own development through goal-setting, journaling, and peer-led drills. The U18 squad competes in the BC Field Hockey Open Division provincial league and participates in the BC Summer Games and Western Canada Championships when qualified. This is field hockey at its most competitive at the club level in Abbotsford, and we make no apologies for the high standards we set.
